Crocheted Baby Hat

My sister-in-law and brother are expecting their first baby (a little girl!!!) on September 14th. Ten days!! Last year when I found out the news that they were pregnant I immediately went to the store to purchase yellow (neutral) yarn and new crochet hooks. My original plan was to make a baby blanket for the little bean, but unfortunately my schedule hardly gave me enough time to focus and actually make the blanket!

With the baby coming in TEN DAYS I decided it was time to crochet something! I made this yesterday, and it was fairly simple! The only difficulty was making sure it was actually appropriate baby size!

I used a double crochet on the entire hat, skipping the first chain in some sections to adjust the shape and make sure it would flare at the bottom.

The frill was a last minute addition, and was simply made by creating a chain of 5 off of every fourth chain! I think it adds a special girly touch to the hat and makes it that much more adorable =)
